How to apply for the Grant-in-Aid

1. Get your documents ready

• Proof of your current grant
• Medical report showing you need full-time care

2. Follow these steps

1. 1You must already receive an Older Persons, Disability or War Veterans grant.
2. 2Ask SASSA for a medical assessment showing you need another person's help daily.
3. 3Tell the officer which grant you are applying for and hand over your documents.
4. 4Complete the forms with the SASSA officer. Ask them to explain anything you do not understand.
5. 5Choose how you want to be paid. If using a bank account, it must be in your own name.
6. 6Keep the receipt with your reference number. Approval can take up to three months.
