Who this grant is for

People who already receive an Older Persons, Disability or War Veterans grant and need regular help from another person with daily activities.

Main requirements (check with SASSA)

• Already receiving one of the qualifying grants
• A need for full-time care from another person, confirmed by assessment
• Not cared for in a state-subsidised institution

Good to know

Grant-in-Aid cannot stand on its own. If the main grant stops, this one stops too.

How much is it?

R580 per month from April 2026, according to the official 2026/27 announcement. The amount you receive can be lower after the means test. Amounts can change – check SASSA before relying on them.
